In the 1970's Consulidated Natural Gas Company built the Cove Point terminal to receive, store liquified natural gas (LNG) from producing countries such as Trinidad and Algeria as well as domestic sources. The plant then transforms it back to gas and delivers it to the pipelines for transport north to the mid-Atlantic region.
A second pipeline is under
construction, which has brought highly skilled but temporary labor into the
County.
